The below job description will outline this position of: Graduate Product Designer 

Typically, this person will be working alongside the technical manager and involved in the design, development, accreditation and continued support of safety equipment, the successful candidate will have an interest in 2D and 3D modelling.

A key aspect of this role for the first 6 months is the development and implementation of the technical documentation associated with safety products. Leading to the candidate becoming a specialist in their field.

The candidate will be required to work within the Technical team and will initially support the implementation of Technical manuals and supporting documentation as part of their product knowledge development. 

This position will be based in Southampton and will be an office based role. It will include travel within the UK and overseas. A full UK drivers licence is required for the role.

Duties and responsibilities of the Graduate Product Designer:

•    Design/development of existing and future in-house product ranges from design brief to production and beyond. 
•    Create and manage the technical service manual documentation for all company products. 
•    Design products to brief, price point and for ease of manufacture. 
•    Able to learn to produce, test and validate prototypes. 
•    Creating and maintaining technical documentation for 3rd party approval bodies. 
•    Produce technical documentation to support both in house and 3rd party manufacture. 
•    Work with local and international manufacturers to develop prototypes and full production products.     

Qualifications and requirement for the Graduate Product Designer:

•    Computer literacy (Office, Corel Draw, Adobe CS, AutoCAD, Inventor)
•    Experience with 2D and 3D modelling/drawing.
•    Experience or keen interest within the marine industry.  
•    Educated to a degree level in design, product design or design engineering.
