Reports To: Head of Alternative Provision

Salary: Competitive, based on experience and qualifications

We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Learning Mentor to join our team in an alternative provision setting in Lymington. The successful candidate will work with students who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs, providing personalised support to help them achieve their educational and personal development goals. This role involves working closely with students, teachers, parents, and other professionals to create a supportive and nurturing learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build trusting and supportive relationships with students.
  • Provide one-on-one mentoring and group support sessions.
  • Support students in their academic work, ensuring they understand and complete their assignments.
  • Use creative and engaging methods to facilitate learning and keep students motivated.
  • Implement positive behaviour strategies and interventions.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to ensure a cohesive approach to student support.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience working with children and young people with SEMH needs.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by students in alternative provision settings.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting young people.
