Position: Marine/Vessel Operations Coordinator

Location: Eastleigh

Salary: £30,000

Hours: 9 am - 17:30 - Hybrid working available

25 days holiday + BH

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading marine, shipping and freight company who are seeking an experienced Marine Vessel Operations Coordinator with a background, in ship agency/vessel operations to join a well-established team.

This is an exciting and diverse role offering a wide variety of duties and responsibilities within the marine cargo sector.

Experience within the shipping & marine industry is essential, and the ideal candidate will have experience with out-of-gauge cargo/break bulk & Project cargo.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Vessel charter operations (liaising with shipowners. shipbroker, internal and overseas offices, port agents)
  • Book sub-contractors as required (stevedores, trucks, divers, welders, cranes, surveyors etc)
  • Shipping documentation (eg Bills of Lading, cargo manifest, Mate receipt, LOI)
  • Demurrage calculations ( based on our voyage charter party)
  • Liaise with the client to gain technical details
  • Liaise with the technical team to arrange asset delivery to and from port
  • Liaise with internal offices and agents to keep them informed
  • Send communications to clients and keep updates regular
  • Update clients with load/discharge sequences even when out of hours
  • Monitor cost accuracy from subcontractors / check port costs and try to maximise our profit by reducing our costs
  • Assist sales team when required
  • Work to resolve operational issues when required
  • Communicate operational matters with loadmaster teams
  • Ensure safety standards are maintained in the office /at the port / on the vessel
  • Adhere to the terms of your employment contract & company policies
  • Always represent the interests of the company/group companies
  • Work with your colleagues to maintain a positive working environment
  • Cover holiday/sickness/office demands when requested by your manager
  • Maintain class-leading service levels
  • Ensure the accuracy on data entered into company systems
