Orion are excited to collaborate once again with our leading Engineering & Manufacturing client located in Reading on their next most important hire in 2024. This is a chance for a well-versed and Manufacturing passionate professional who possesses a substantial amount of time-served, to spearhead the Manufacturing department. 

This opportunity comes as a result of a marked shift, led by our clients Operations Director, who has been instrumental in transforming their strategic direction which has seen a meaningful change to the facility and wider group. As their next, newly appointed Manufacturing Engineering Manager you will collaborate and work at peer level with the Operations Director on creating a robust and quality culture. Moreover, this role won't see you hit the glass ceiling, there is plenty of scope for the role to further progress into C-Suite level.

What will you be doing as their Manufacturing Engineering Manager?

  • Developing and executing comprehensive testing protocols to verify that products perform as intended under various conditions. This involves using specialized equipment and methodologies to conduct tests and analyze results.
  • Collaborating closely with the design and engineering teams to ensure that the products not only meet functional and performance criteria but also adhere to the intended design specifications. This includes reviewing design plans, prototypes, and final products to maintain consistency and quality.
  • Ensuring efficiency in operations by evaluating current practices, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing solutions to improve overall performance. This includes maintaining equipment, optimizing schedules, and ensuring that all team members are working effectively.

What do you need to demonstrate in order to be shortlisted?

  • A minimum of 5 years working at managerial level within a manufacturing environment which is either SME sized and/or high value > low volume 
  • Either a HND/HNC or Degree in an engineering related subject 
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical manufacturing and electrical engineering 
  • Right to work in the UK, our client is not able to support either immediate or future sponsorship requests
  • Both practical and educational knowledge of LEAN Manufacturing Methods 
  • Solid understanding of how in-house Supply Chain CRM's work i.e. ERP/MRP
